Teacher CPD: Creative Writing

Workshop

Event Description

*NOTE: This event has been postponed - if you have booked, please contact gemma@cityclassroom.org for further details.

Exploring simple techniques, developed over many years by inspirational playwrights, that awaken the imagination and enhance our brains capacity to shape and share exciting stories. Hints and tips for transporting learning and new skills back to the classroom.

Learn about how a playwright creates characters and narrative, how an idea becomes a world in which we are immersed as an audience. Writer of The First, Jayne Williams will take you through an interactive workshop that she often delivers with children in schools, which enables us to view writing in a completely different light, igniting the natural storyteller in us all and breaking down the barriers we may put between the ideas in our head and the words on the page. Jayne will gently take you through some fun writing activities that will engage the brain of different learners and can be adapted for all ages.

You will receive a breakdown of these activities and how they can support writing back in class, alongside some handy hints and tips on how to make the learning environment more productive for the creative brain.

This CPD session is perfect for all teachers and teaching assistants who are looking to expand their skills in creative writing and exploring ideas for cross-curricular creative arts.
